We are so excited to have been selected as an Austin Marathon Gives charity partner for the 2024 Austin Marathon. Since this is so close to both our gala and Rare Disease Day, we have decided to combine our efforts and transform our gala into a marathon kickoff and Rare Disease Day celebration!

Join us for a silent auction, cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, and entertainment. Entry is free with proof of donation to our Austin Marathon Gives campaign. Space is limited. Reserve your ticket now.

Run for Rare in the Austin Marathon

Lace up those sneakers and get ready to run for Team U.R. Our Hope Sunday, February 18, 2024.

Choose your distance (5K, Half Marathon, Full Marathon) and register now for the Austin Marathon and select Team U.R. Our Hope at sign-up. All participants who join our team will receive a U.R. Our Hope race shirt, cooling towel, and headband!

Volunteer for the Austin Marathon

Running not your thing? We get it! Sign up to join our Volunteer team as we support and cheer on runners on the day of the event. We need 30-50 volunteers so grab a group of friends and support U.R. Our Hope and the Austin Marathon!

Our volunteer assignment is as follows:

We recommend volunteers be at least 16 years old. Younger volunteers may attend, but MUST be accompanied by a parent.

You can also support our efforts by donating to our Austin Marathon Gives campaign! All money donated will be sent to U.R. Our Hope to support our outreach and family support programs.

What we do

U.R. Our Hope is one of the only organizations in the country assisting patients on the journey to diagnosis and continues to support them beyond. We assist families in finding answers and critical treatment plans.

  • Gas/Meal Cards – we provide gas/meal gift cards to those traveling for medical visits to see doctors specialized in their conditions or best fit their needs
  • Research Programs – we help to enroll individuals in some of the nation’s top research programs to find a diagnosis, such as the NIH Undiagnosed Diseases Program and TGEN
  • Crisis Support – during hospitalization or times of crisis we provide respite, meals, emergency lodging, and support for burial costs
  • Family Meetings – local families gather each month to connect and spend time with others to network, share resources, and simply offer support to others who share the journey

Our Impact 

We have over 75 active families and continue receiving referrals daily. Our families are concentrated in Central Texas, but our reach extends across 10 different states and at least 5 other countries. We have helped these families find a diagnosis or make significant progress in their diagnostic journey.
