Self-Advocacy for Kids by Willa Fischer
Local Girl Scout Member, Willa Fischer, has been working on a special project to share with our community to help children become better self-advocates. This self-paced presentation is designed especially for kids to teach them medical self-advocacy skills, how to prepare for medical appointments, and how to use medical terminology to confidently express their needs.
This is an excellent tool young people can use to be involved in their healthcare team. It can also serve as a guide for parents who want to prepare their child for navigating the healthcare system. There is also a very helpful section on how to create a medical binder and health passport that parents and children can work on together, which is extremely important and beneficial for those who have rare and complex medical conditions.
