As you all know, here at U.R. Our Hope, we are committed to serving the Undiagnosed and Rare communities in the best capacity possible, and we are not so arrogant to think that we can do it all on our own. We are proud of the connections and partnerships we have created along the way that have helped us better serve the families of U.R. Our Hope. To further our mission, we have recently connected with CrowdMed and are excited for our families to have another avenue for finding a diagnosis.
To learn more about CrowdMed, you can read the letter below and also be sure to read this article from an adult patient who used their service to find more answers in a month than she did in TEN YEARS!
CrowdMed has done some amazing work and we look forward to having their support on this journey.
Dear UR Our Hope fans and followers,
We are so excited to partner with your wonderful organization, and cannot wait to see how we may be able to help each other in our common mission of helping people with rare or undiagnosed medical conditions.
But first of all, we’d love a chance to introduce ourselves.
Who are we?
CrowdMed is a startup based out of San Francisco that was built specifically to help people who have spent years trying to get a correct medical diagnosis or treatment, but without success. We use a “crowdsourcing” model to get a team of medical experts and fellow patients to collaborate on solving your personal medical mystery.
Why are we here?
I started CrowdMed after seeing the tremendous difficulty my sister had in getting diagnosed. It cost our family three years, over $100,000 in medical expenses, and untold suffering before she was finally diagnosed with a rare genetic disease. I was struck by how her diagnosis could only be found after a team of doctors worked together to investigate it, and realized that my own technical expertise could be applied to make such a team-based system more readily available to patients around the world via the Internet. I care deeply about this project, and believe we can help millions of patients who haven’t yet been able to find the answers they’ve been looking for. I encourage you to read more about our inspiration and patient success stories to date.
